Loading and off loading an excavator is a very important and practical skill that plays a pivotal role in modern site construction. However, it can be difficult for beginners to get started as it requires following certain operating steps. Below, we will introduce them one by one.
1. Work Preparation.
a. Self-check the vehicle before first-time use, including brakes, lights, etc., and make sure the trailer is ready.
b. Give preference to parking on a flatter surface to ensure that the vehicle will not slide or tilt.
c. Raise the boom of the excavator to the highest point to ensure that the boom does not touch the loading vehicle.
d. Adjust the seat height and angle on the driver's seat so that your arms can extend naturally when your foot is on the brake, accelerator and clutch pedals.
2. Loading Steps.
a. Adjust the mirrors after getting on the vehicle to make sure you have a clear line of sight.
b. Depress the brake, open the handbrake, hold the steering wheel and start the excavator.
c. Put the excavator and vehicle straight, i.e. parallel, and walk forward slowly, pay attention to the main beam not to lift too high;
d. When the track is one third of the way to the vehicle loading platform, rotate the cab around and lower the boom to support it with the bucket. At this time, hold the excavator parallel to the crate and start backing up, do not walk on one side of the track, walk on both sides together.
e. In order to prevent the excavator from sliding down when the vehicle is lifted up, try to walk forward a little bit after the track is mounted on the loading platform, and then turn back to the side of the drive wheels to support the excavator, and slowly move forward to complete the loading.
3. Unloading Steps.
a. Firstly, park the vehicle to a place that is more level and free of obstacles, so as to avoid accidents such as landslides and rollovers.
b. Two tracks parallel to walk, to be slow, big arm do not lift too high (10cm to 30cm height from the ground) to go forward, walk to the loading platform about one-third of the bucket support.
c. Support the height of the bucket and the loading vehicle parallel, walk forward to collect the vice arm, pay attention to the coordination of movement, or to be slow, walk to the loading platform two-thirds lift the arm to put the tracks to the bottom, contact with the ladder, and then directly drive away.
