DEVELON 30 Tons Class Crawler Excavator For Zouérat Open-Pit Iron Mine In Mauritania

In recent years, the growth of the mining sector in Mauritania—particularly in the Zouérat region—has driven an increasing demand for various types of heavy machinery. Local mining operations focus primarily on open-pit iron ore and gold extraction; as foreign-invested projects advance and mine production capacities expand, the need for equipment upgrades has risen accordingly. Machinery that offers a strong balance of cost-effectiveness, fuel efficiency, durability, and ease of maintenance has gained significant market recognition. Our client, who is involved in an iron ore mining project and requires several large machines, initially purchased a DEVELON DX300LC excavator from us, with plans to acquire more units should the performance prove satisfactory.

 

 

The DEVELON DX300LC features an extended track undercarriage with a large ground contact area, effectively preventing the machine from sinking into the soft, sandy terrain of the Zouerate mining area. Equipped with a high-efficiency dust protection system and featuring a reinforced boom and X-shaped frame design, the machine withstands the site's persistent high temperatures and strong, sandy winds, reliably performing overburden removal and ore loading operations at open-pit iron and gold mines.

 

 

This excavator is powered by a 146kW DL08 engine, adapted to local emission standards and fuel quality. Designed for easy maintenance—a crucial advantage in remote desert mining areas like Zouerate where spare parts supply cycles are long—it features a large 1.6m³bucket and powerful digging force that ensure high-efficiency earth-moving capabilities, thereby minimizing downtime and effectively controlling long-term operating costs.

 

 

Tailored to the specific requirements of the Mauritania mining project, this excavator supports the rapid attachment of tools such as hydraulic breakers and rippers. Beyond overburden removal, it handles tasks like hard rock breaking and site clearing, thereby enhancing overall equipment utilization. Additionally, it features an intelligent hydraulic control system that effectively saves fuel during heavy-duty mining operations, resulting in lower operating costs.
